Kaduna govt lauds troops for killing 152 bandits, destroying 100 camps

The Nigeria Army troops have killed 152 terrorists and destroyed over 100 bandits’ camps in the second and third quarters of 2022.

Mr. Samuel Aruwan, Kaduna State Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, stated this on Friday, during his presentation of security situation reports for the second and third quarters of 2022, to the Governor of the state, Malam Nasir El-Rufai.

Aruwan said that 152 bandits and terrorists were neutralized by ground forces around the state.

According to him, several bandits were killed during aerial assaults on identified camps and converging points, adding that 16 bandits and terrorists were killed in fratricidal clashes in Birnin Gwari and Chikun LGAs, just as over 100 camps occupied by bandits and terrorists were destroyed.

However, Aruwan stated further that within the same period, 74 kidnapped persons were rescued by security forces.

He also stated that arms and ammunition intercepted from bandits, terrorists and gunrunners in the six-month period were, two General Purpose Machine Guns (GPMGs), Seventy-four AK-47 rifles, one AK-49 rifle and nine Type 06 rifles.

Others were Four light assault rifles, four pump action rifles, one g3 rifle, sixteen locally made rifles, seven dane guns, three pistols, fifty-four AK-47 magazines, one G3 magazine, eleven pump action cartridges and 5,398 rounds of live ammunition.

He explained that illicit substances were recovered from suspects, while their stashes were confiscated in the combined period, adding that 654 suspects were arrested including 613 male and 41 female.

He said the quantities of seized illicit substances were 2,759.891kg of cannabis, 6558.007kg of psychotropic drugs and 0.064kg of Heroin.

He further stated that there was significant improvement on Kaduna-Abuja road, adding that killing and kidnapping on Kaduna-Abuja road has reduced drastically in the third quarters, adding that collaborative efforts are yielding positive results.

Aruwan, who expressed gratitude to commanders, officers and men of the security agencies working night and day to make things better for all, urged the security agents not to relent, but forge ahead as so many other things remain to be done.
