Give Me Sport reports that the Dutchman has undergone a scan after the game and it was discovered that he damaged his anterior cruciate ligament.
The 29-year-old was injured by the Toffees goalkeeper Jordan Pickford after clashing with the defender during his attempt at goal.
And he could not survive the attack as he was substituted from the meeting in the 11th minute as Joseph Gomez took to the pitch for the remainder of the match.
